Report: 98 Billion Mobile App Downloads by 2015

Analysts at Berg Insight are predicting that mobile app downloads will grow 56.6 percent between 2010 and 2015, to hit 98 billion in 2015. They also believe app store revenues will grow to $11.8 billion during that time.

The report says that the growth of free apps, particularly in Asia which will account for 40 percent of downloads, means that developers should focus on in-app ads and in-app purchases to monetize their creations. It also says that while HTML will eventually become more important for mobile apps, native apps will dominate for the next few years.
