A new survey from Intuit QuickBase reveals that 20 percent of information workers have built or modified a Web app or software they need for work. Approximately 17 percent of workers said they used tools that allow them to develop those apps without approval from their IT departments.
In addition, half of those surveyed said they “turn to online databases and Web-based productivity apps, instant messaging platforms, video chat services and social networks to solve their own business problems.”
According to Intuit, at least 35 percent of enterprises do not encourage employees to build their own apps.
