After a breakdown in the latest round of settlement talks between Google and Oracle, the patent infringement case surrounding Android’s use of Java technology will head to trial. Magistrate Judge Paul S. Grewal explained, “The parties have reached an irreconcilable impasse in their settlement discussions,” and “no further conferences shall be convened.” He wished both companies “good luck” and added, “In the end, some cases just need to be tried.”
The trial is scheduled to begin April 16.
