A startup called Action wants to make it easier for development shops to keep their development environments consistent. They’re offering a hosted development environment. Currently, Action includes a full Unix-like environment, including an in-browser shell. It works with Action’s own IDE or VIM or eMacs. Eventually, the company plans to support nearly any IDE or text editor. They also plan to add one-click deployment for Heroku and Engine Yard, as well as integration with other cloud services.
Action is currently in private beta, with invitations available by request.
