Atlassian Unveils Git Client for Windows

Development tool vendor Atlassian has announced a new Windows client for Git and Mercurial distributed version control systems (DVCS) that it calls SourceTree. SourceTree also integrates with several Git hosting services, including Atlassian’s BitBucket, which competes with GitHub.

“With the explosive growth of Git amongst developer populations, enterprises are increasingly in search of tools to smooth its learning curve for employees,” said Stephen O’Grady, an analyst from the firm RedMonk. “And with millions of businesses using Windows worldwide, SourceTree’s new Windows version will not lack for an addressable market.”

SourceTree is currently in beta and can be downloaded from SourceTreeApp.com.
