Amazon Web Services had a very good quarter. According to the company’s latest financial report, AWS brought in $2.085 in revenue for the quarter, up from $1.169 billion last year, which is a 78 percent increase. Operating income for the cloud computing group was $521 million, up from $98 million in the third quarter of 2014.
Overall, the company posted $25.4 billion in net sales and earnings of 17 cents per share. That far exceeded the expectations of analysts who were predicting a loss of 13 cents per share. Amazon’s stock price jumped up after the earnings announcement.
