At the recent TechCrunch Disrupt SF hackathon, a team of developers from a Montreal-based company called Osedea floated an idea for a unique open source bug bounty program. Called “Git Bounty,” the project would make it easier for companies to offer cash rewards to developers for fixing bugs in open source projects.
?We wanted to do something that was meaningful and useful for us,? said Osedea?s Martin Coulombe. ?We see the potential and the value. We just have to see how it gets accepted in the open-source community.? He added that companies could also use the project to offer bounties for adding features to open source software.
