Cisco Buys Piston Cloud Computing

Cisco has announced that it will buy Piston Cloud Computing for an undisclosed sum. Piston was a startup that offered a distribution of the OpenStack open source cloud computing platform.

Cisco said that Piston’s technology will play a key role in its “ambitious Intercloud vision.” Intercloud is Cisco’s attempt to build a network of interconnected clouds.

Just last month, Cisco made another cloud-related acquisition; it bought Tropo, a cloud API platform vendor.
