CloudBees has announced that it will be discontinuing its enterprise Java platform as a service (PaaS) known as [email protected]. However, the company isn’t getting out of the cloud development business altogether. It will continue to offer [email protected], which offers the open source continuous integration tool Jenkins as a service. The company will also partner with Pivotal to offer Jenkins through Cloud Foundry.
Jay Lyman, a senior analyst with 451 Research, observed, “Enterprises are reluctant to put applications or workloads on a public PaaS, mainly because of lack of control over data, security, compliance and regulatory issues, and other legitimate enterprise concerns.”
