Developer Salaries and Bonuses Reach New Highs

A new report from online job board Dice.com reports a spike in companies offering bonuses to developers. About two-thirds of enterprises surveyed are offering bonuses to developers, with 10 percent offering developers bonuses that other employees don’t get. According to Dice President Shravan Goli, the average bonus is about 15 to 20 percent of a developer’s annual salary, while some are as high as 30 percent.

The median salary for developers is $75,425. In absolute terms, development jobs in Silicon Valley pay the best with a median salary of $97,000. However, when adjusted for cost of living, Seattle is highest, followed by Phoenix, Atlanta, Dallas and Houston.

The top five skills listed in development job postings include Java/J2EE, .NET, C++, C# and SQL.
