Docker Releases Datacenter Platform

Docker Inc. has launched a new solution it calls the Docker Datacenter platform, which combines multiple container management tools into a single offering. “Docker Datacenter is a product suite that enables end-to-end application delivery, from the developer all the way through into production,” said Scott Johnson, senior vice president at Docker.

Included in Docker Datacenter (DDC) are the Docker Universal Control Plane, the Docker Trusted Registry and a supported version of the Docker Engine. The company refers to DCC as a “container as a service” (CaaS) offering, which it says is in between platform as a service (PaaS) and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) cloud computing offerings.
