GitHub for Windows Gets a New Look

GitHub has released version 2 of GitHub for Windows, and the biggest change in the version control software is an updated interface. Designed for Windows 8 “Metro,” GitHub for Windows always had a minimalist look, but the new update is even more spare with lots of white space. In addition, it focuses on making things easier for developers by reducing the number of screens they need to use for common tasks.

Despite the fact that Microsoft has added GitHub support to Visual Studio, GitHub says it continues to see strong demand for its Windows product. It says the application has been installed more than 1.2 million times.
