At its Global Partner Summit, held this week, Google made it clear that it wants to support other developers who are building tools and services that work with its cloud computing platform. To that end, it made two major announcements. First, it launched a Google Apps Tech Partner Program for ISVs that offer applications that augment Google Apps. Second, it expanded and reorganized its Cloud Platform Partner Program for resellers with several tiers of participation now available.
According to Google, more than 5 million businesses use its products and services. More than 10,000 companies have signed up to be Google Apps resellers, and companies have downloaded apps from the App Marketplace 200 million times.
