Google has launched a new cross-platform API for its Cloud Datastore cloud-based NoSQL database. According to the company, the new API will improve performance and reliability for applications accessing Cloud Datastore from Google’s Container Engine, Compute Engine and other cloud computing platforms.
The new API is currently a beta release. When it becomes generally available, Google will guarantee 99.5 percent monthly uptime for enterprises that use the Cloud Datastore multi-region service and 99 percent monthly uptime for enterprises that use the Cloud Datastore regional service. Google has not said when it plans to release the final version of the API.
Google also recently simplified pricing for Cloud Datastore.
