Google Will Now Let You Mail Data to Its Cloud

Google has officially launched a service called Offline Media Import/Export that will allows developers and others to send in physical media which Google will then upload to its cloud computing service. Customers can ship hard disk drives, tapes or USB flash drives to Google partner Iron Mountain, which will then transfer the data. Google notes that it could take up to 100 days to upload a terabyte of data over a business DSL connection, so the service could save organizations quite a bit of time.

Google previously offered the service as a preview. Amazon offers a similar service called AWS Import/Export, and Microsoft offers Azure Import/Export.
