The recent U.K. referendum vote to leave the European Union (EU) could have some major implications for the cloud computing market. EU privacy laws and other regulations require that cloud computing vendors store European data in European data centers. As a result, many of the large vendors currently have data centers in the U.K. that they use to serve European markets, and others have U.K. data centers in the works.
No one is exactly sure how the Brexit will affect cloud computing vendors, but ZDNet examines six possible scenarios. The most likely seem to be that vendors will stop building U.K. data centers and expand their operations in Ireland and possibly in Germany.
