At its Insight 2014 conference, IBM made several announcements related to big data and analytics. First, the company has partnered with Twitter to enable enterprises to access Twitter data with IBM tools. Developers will be able to integrate and analyze Twitter feeds in applications they are building on the IBM’s Watson Developer Cloud or its BlueMix cloud development platform. In addition, the two companies will jointly offer a set related applications and services.
In addition, IBM launched three new cloud-based data and analytics services. IBM DataWorks can refine, cleanse and secure corporate data. ?With DataWorks, the thought is just like a faucet you turn on and get your waterworks — when you?re using DataWorks you should be able to get data that flows, it should be clean, it should be secure and trusted,? said Beth Smith, general manager of big data at IBM. ?Data Works is a set of refinery services to do just that.?
They also launched IBM dashDB, a cloud-based data warehousing and analytics service that utilizes in-memory technology for fast performance. And the company announced Cloudant Local, an on-premise version of the company’s Cloudant database as a service, designed to help build hybrid clouds.
