Beginning next year, IBM plans to release a suite of tools that will give developers access to its Watson cognitive computing platform, which famously beat human competitors on the game show Jeopardy. The company will offer a cloud development platform based on Watson technology, Watson APIs, a marketplace for related apps and access to IBM cognitive computing experts and resources. The company also plans to work with venture capital firms to encourage investment in technology companies tapping into Watson.
“This is a day we’ve been looking forward to – opening the power of Watson to the innovators of the world,” said IBM’s John Gordon. “People can use Watson’s deep insight to transform all of us across the planet. This will be a major competitive advantage for folks.”
