MasterCard has announced the availability of a new software development kit (SDK) for its PayPass near field communication (NFC) technology. It will allow mobile development firms and network operators to integrate “tap and go” mobile payment technology into Android and BlackBerry OS 7 apps.
According to Microsoft, more than 70 different smartphone models are compatible with PayPass. However, the iPhone does not have NFC capabilities. Gartner predicts $617 billion in mobile payments by 2016.
