Pivotal, the company spun off from EMC and VMware, has launched its cloud development platform, known as Pivotal One Platform. It leverages the open source Cloud Foundry PaaS in a downloadable version that companies can run in-house or on the cloud computing service of their choice. It enables development in Node.js, Ruby, Java and .Net. It also includes four services: a MySQL database, the RabbitMQ messaging, Apache Hadoop, and Pivotal AX analytics.
Pivotal One “represents an interesting intersection of new, more agile development techniques,” said Pivotal’s Dave Menninger. He added, “This is the beginning of a market. We’re changing the way organizations deploy applications.”
