Upgrade to the most recent Service Pack

OK, this is a silly suggestion, but I personally know a lot of developers that complain about Visual Basic’s bugs that were fixed in more recent Service Packs. This is especially true for the three Service Packs of VB5.

As of this writing, Microsoft has released two Service Packs for Visual Studio 6.0. The first one is especially interesting for VB developers that create lots of ActiveX components, because it fixes a bug that prevents VB from working correctly with more than 7 or 8 ActiveX DLLs.

The second Service Pack for Visual Studio 6.0 doesn’t concern Visual Basic at all, so you don’t need to download and install it.
