Here’s how to open a folder using a keyboard shortcut in Windows 2000 Pro:

  1. Select the folder.
  2. Create a shortcut and place it on the desktop.
  3. Rightclick the new shortcut, and then click Properties.
  4. The dialog box will show a Shortcut option. Next to it, None will be displayed. Type any character in the dialog. It will automatically be prefaced with Ctrl+Alt.
  5. Thus, your shortcut will be Ctrl+Alt+&ltwhatever character you typed&gt.
  6. Close the window.
  7. Your shortcut will take effect immediately.
