Directing CGI Output to Another Frame

A little-known attribute of the

tag is TARGET. This attribute can be used to direct the output of a CGI program to another browser window, or another frame in the same window.

In the tag, TARGET behaves the same way it does in an anchor tag. If the TARGET is a named frame or window, the output will be directed there. If it isn’t, a new browser window will open. This can be useful for directing navigation from a popup window, or for maintaining directional flow in a framed site.
