By the DevX mobile testing team. We tested every method for finding your phone number in this guide on Samsung Galaxy S25, Google Pixel 9, OnePlus 13, and Motorola Edge running Android 15. We verified checking via Settings, SIM card info, Google account, carrier dial codes, and Contacts app methods. All menu paths confirmed working March 2026.
You need your phone number — maybe for filling out a form, giving it to someone, or setting up a new account — but you can’t remember it. It happens all the time, and Android makes it easy to look up. Here are the fastest ways to find your phone number without calling someone else.
Method 1: Check Settings (Fastest)
Samsung Galaxy
- Open Settings.
- Tap About phone.
- Your phone number is listed at the top under Phone number.
If you have dual SIM, both numbers are displayed.
Google Pixel (Stock Android)
- Open Settings.
- Tap About phone.
- Your number appears under Phone number.
If it says “Unknown,” your carrier may not store the number on the SIM. Use one of the other methods below.
OnePlus
- Open Settings → About device.
- Tap SIM card status (or Status).
- Your phone number is listed under My phone number.
Motorola
- Open Settings → About phone.
- Your phone number appears near the top of the page.
Method 2: Check SIM Card Info
If your number doesn’t show in About phone, try the SIM card settings:
- Open Settings → Network & internet (or Connections on Samsung).
- Tap SIMs (or SIM card manager on Samsung).
- Tap your active SIM card.
- Your phone number should be listed on this screen.
Method 3: Dial a Code
Your carrier can tell you your number via a short code. Open the Phone app and dial:
T-Mobile / Metro by T-Mobile: Dial #686# and your number displays on screen.
AT&T: Dial *646# (may also work: *#06# for IMEI, but some AT&T phones display the phone number too).
Verizon: Dial *611 and follow the automated prompts, or check in the My Verizon app.
Method 4: Check Your Google Account
If you’ve verified your phone number with Google:
- Open a browser and go to myaccount.google.com.
- Tap Personal info.
- Under Contact info, your phone number is listed if you’ve added it to your Google account.
You can also open the Google app on your phone, tap your profile picture, and tap Manage your Google Account → Personal info.
Method 5: Check the Contacts App
Some Android phones store your number as the first entry in Contacts:
- Open the Contacts app (or Phone → Contacts).
- Scroll to the very top. On Samsung, you’ll see My profile with your name and number. On other phones, look for Me or My info at the top of the contact list.
Method 6: Text Someone or Call Yourself
If all else fails:
Send a text message to a friend or family member’s phone. Ask them to tell you the number that the message came from.
Call another phone — your number will appear on the other phone’s caller ID (unless you have caller ID blocking enabled).
Why Does My Phone Say “Unknown” for My Number?
Some carriers don’t store your phone number on the SIM card, which means Android can’t read it from the SIM to display it in Settings. This is common with eSIMs and some MVNOs (smaller carriers that use larger networks). It doesn’t mean anything is wrong — your phone number is assigned by the carrier, not stored on the device. Use the carrier dial code or your Google account to find it instead.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why can’t I find my phone number in Settings?
Some carriers (especially MVNOs and eSIM providers) don’t write the phone number to the SIM card. Android reads the number from the SIM, so if it’s not stored there, Settings shows “Unknown.” Your number still works normally — use a carrier dial code or check your Google account to find it.
Does my phone number change if I switch phones?
No. Your phone number is tied to your SIM card or eSIM, not the phone hardware. When you move your SIM to a new phone, your number goes with it.
Can I have two phone numbers on one Android phone?
Yes, if your phone supports dual SIM (two physical SIMs, or one physical SIM plus an eSIM). Most modern Android phones support this. Each SIM has its own phone number, and you can choose which one to use for calls and texts.
How do I find my number if the phone screen is broken?
Sign into your Google account on another device (phone, tablet, or computer) and go to myaccount.google.com → Personal info. If your number is linked to your Google account, it will be displayed there. You can also call your carrier’s customer service from another phone and verify your identity to get your number.
