14 New Companies Join Open Container Initiative

The OCI also now has a draft charter.

The Linux Foundation has announced that fourteen more companies have joined its Open Container Initiative (OCI), which was formerly called the Open Container Project. They include AT&T, ClusterHQ, Datera, Kismatic, Kyup, Midokura, Nutanix, Oracle, Polyverse, Resin.io, Sysdig, SUSE, Twitter and Verizon. "The overwhelming interest in the Open Container Initiative is representative of both the opportunity containers offer for application development and the challenges we face with fragmentation,” the Linux Foundation’s Jim Zemlin said. "With such strong community support and collaboration, we’re confident this effort will rise to the opportunity."

The group, whose founding members also include Amazon, Microsoft, CoreOS, Docker, Intel and Red Hat, has also written a draft charter for the organization.
