Microsoft’s Azure Search Becomes Generally Available

Microsoft has announced that its Azure Search service is now generally available. It aims to make it easier for Web and mobile developers to add search capabilities to their apps. According to Tiffany Wissner, a senior director in Microsoft’s Data Platform unit, “It reduces the friction and complexity of implementing full-text search and helps developers differentiate their applications through powerful features not available with other search packages.”

The cloud-based search-as-a-service offering includes support for spoken queries and support for more than 50 languages. Along with the announcement, Microsoft released a .NET software development kit for Azure Search.

As the same time, Microsoft also announced that DocumentDB, its cloud computing NoSQL document service, will become generally available on April 8.
