According to the official numbers released by each company, Google and Apple are now tied in the number of apps included in their respective app stores. On Wednesday, Google announced that Google Play now has 700,000 Android apps. Last week, Apple boasted about 700,000 apps in its App Store as well.
Previously, Apple had long held a lead over Google in the number of apps in its store.
The app stores for other mobile development platforms have a considerable way to go to catch up to Google and Apple. The Windows Phone Marketplace, for example, has 120,000 apps.
