Within 24 hours after Google announced a price cut for its cloud computing services, Amazon Web Services (AWS) followed suit. Fees for its EC2 IaaS will drop 10 percent to 40 percent for various instances. S3 cloud storage will see average reductions of 51 percent, and charges are also being lowered for RDS (28 percent average reduction), ElastiCache (34 percent average reduction) and EMR (27 to 61 percent reductions).
With Google and Amazon both slashing cloud prices, many industry watchers expect that Microsoft will make a similar move in the near future.
