ActiveX DLLs - Maintaining Compatability

Question:
I have created an ActiveX DLL with VB 5.0 Pro. I have a handful of apps that use this DLL. I would like to be able to change this DLL without having to recompile all of the apps. Is this possible?

Answer:
In general, yes. There are a few situations where you could break compatability, though, and you need to be aware of these. Essentially, if you change any existing properties, methods, classes, enumerations, etc., that will break compatability. However, you are free to add new functionality! BTW, make sure you have Binary Compatability selected in the Project Properties dialog before you compile the DLL.
