Changing a Column Name Within a Table

Question:
Is it possible to change the name of a column within a table after it has been created? For example, I want to change the column "Name" to "FName".

Answer:
Yes it is possible. But instead of using an ALTER TABLE command, you need to use the stored procedure SP_RENAME.

For example:

sp_rename 'customers.contact_title', 'title',
 'COLUMN'
will rename the column "contact_title" to "title".
