Set Web Server Permissions When Using ASP and an Access Database

Beginners often run into permissions problems as soon as they try to write data to a database driven Web site using Access and Internet Information Server (IIS). A common error message is:

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access 97 Driver] Couldn't lock file.

Microsoft Access needs to create a locking information file (using the .LDB extension) in the database directory. To make sure that Access can create the file, give the Web server account (IUSR_) read and write permissions to the directory.
