The Adili Group, a Pan-African corporate advisory firm, has launched a new regional cybersecurity training program. The program is a response to the growing concerns over the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered cyber threats. Chris Diaz, the chairman of Adili Group, stated that the firm has partnered with cybersecurity experts to provide over 130 specialized training programs.

These programs are designed to enhance digital safety preparedness for homegrown organizations. The training sessions will be tailored to replicate real-world cyberattacks. This includes phishing, ransomware, and other forms of advanced persistent threats.

“As the digital landscape evolves, so do the risks.

The Adili Cyber Training Arena is a global solution that allows organizations to actively engage with the types of threats they are likely to face, offering hands-on experience in a secure and highly advanced environment,” said Mr Diaz.

This development comes just weeks after the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) raised the alarm over the rise of AI-enabled threats. In its cybersecurity report for the three months ended September 2024, CA noted that cybercriminals are increasingly using AI-enabled attacks to enhance the efficiency and magnitude of their operations. “They leverage AI and machine learning to automate the creation of phishing emails and other types of social engineering,” noted CA Director-General David Mugonyi in the report.

According to the regulator, system attacks contributed the bulk of detected threats during the quarter ended September. This stood at 583.7 million, followed distantly by brute force and malware attacks at 38.1 million and 33.9 million, respectively. Separately, cybersecurity experts have warned that organizations failing to prioritize research and development and increase cybersecurity budgets risk dire consequences as attacks grow increasingly complex.
