Oppo had a significant event in China today, unveiling a myriad of impressive products with limited global availability. Among the announcements were new phones, earphones, and a tablet. Although many of these products may not be available in the West, the Oppo Watch X2 Mini stands a chance of going global, possibly under the name OnePlus Watch 3 Mini.
At the event, the Oppo Find X8 Ultra stole the show, while the Find X8s is expected to serve as the base model. However, the news that caught our attention was about the Oppo Watch X2 Mini potentially launching outside China as the OnePlus Watch 3 Mini. According to tipster Abhishek Yadav, there are credible indications that the Oppo Watch X2 Mini will be rebranded as the OnePlus Watch 3 Mini for markets in India and globally.
This aligns with a statement from a OnePlus spokesperson during the launch of the Watch 3, indicating that a smaller smartwatch with cellular connectivity is in the pipeline for later this year. Given that OnePlus and Oppo often share products across different regions, this leak seems plausible.
Oppo Watch X2 Mini rebranding possible
The Oppo Watch X2 Mini, priced at CNY 1,529 in China, features a smaller 43mm dial and accommodates standard 18mm straps. Its AMOLED screen boasts a peak brightness of 2200 nits, and it comes with an IP68 rating and 5ATM water resistance. Notably, it supports eSIM, a feature that the OnePlus Watch 3 lacks.
The Oppo Watch X2 Mini includes 2GB of RAM and a secondary BES2800 MCU chip for lighter tasks. It operates on Wear OS 5 with ColorOS Watch 7 on top but can switch to RTOS for simpler tasks and improved battery life. Oppo claims up to 3 days of battery life in regular usage, extending to 8 days in Power Saver mode.
No official confirmation has come from OnePlus yet, so we may need to wait a few months for more details about the OnePlus Watch 3 Mini’s release. However, if it matches the quality of the OnePlus Watch 3, it is likely to find a receptive audience. In the meantime, tech enthusiasts will be eagerly awaiting further announcements, hoping that more of Oppo’s and OnePlus’s innovative products will become available globally.
