Google Strengthens its Cloud Development Offerings

On Tuesday, Google announced that it was changing the name for its Google Storage for Developers to Google Cloud Storage and that it was lowering the prices for the service. Data uploads are now free and U.S. downloads begin at $0.12 per TB.

In addition, the company rolled out a new 99.95 percent uptime SLA for Google App Engine. In another change, enterprise customers who use Google App Engine can now be invoiced for charges instead of paying by credit card.

Finally, the company also introduced a Google Cloud SQL preview. The cloud-based database will offer similar capabilities as MySQL.
