EMC Announces Hybrid Cloud Service, Acquisitions

EMC has made several announcements related to hybrid cloud computing. First, the company announced that it has completed its acquisition of Cloudscaling Group and that it will purchase two other companies that offer cloud technology: Spanning and Maginatics.

In addition, the company launched EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud Solution, which makes it easier to combine data stored in public and private clouds. According to the company, the integration of disparate cloud data could take months without the EMC service, but the Enterprise Hybrid Cloud Solution speeds up the process so that it takes just 28 days. The service utilizes Cloudscaling technology.

“The view of the cloud has changed,” said EMC information infrastructure business president Jeremy Burton. “Twelve to 18 months ago, large companies used the public cloud for testing and development. It was used by the early adopters in an organization. Now, cloud is moving into the mainstream and IT is driving it. And they can?t just move everything to the public cloud.”
