Splunk, known for its IT monitoring and analytics tools, has announced the acquisition of BugSense, a mobile analytics company. In the past, Splunk hasn’t targeted the mobile space. However, company chairman and CEO Godfrey Sullivan explained, “Enterprise applications and IT investments are increasingly shifting to mobile, making it an important source of data for operational intelligence.”
He continued, “BugSense has a strong mobile development team and is an exciting addition to our product portfolio. Our goal is to make it easier for customers to gain insights from machine data generated by mobile devices, along with other machine-generated data, across Splunk’s core use cases in IT operations, security, application management and business analytics.”
