Apple has unveiled macOS 26, codenamed “Tahoe,” at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). This update brings a suite of new features and design elements to enhance the user experience across Apple devices. One of the most exciting additions is the Phone app on Mac.
Users can now access recent calls and contacts synced from their iPhone and make calls with a single click. The app also includes new features from iOS 26, like Hold Assist and Call Screening. macOS 26 introduces a new visual design language called Liquid Glass.
This translucent aesthetic reduces UI clutter and creates a consistent look across devices. Macs will also support further customization options, including dark or light modes, custom icons, dock themes, and personalized color tones.

Spotlight, the search feature on Mac, is getting a significant upgrade. Powered by Apple Intelligence, Spotlight can now perform app-specific actions and automate complex tasks through AI-assisted workflows. Users can also utilize shortcut Quick keys for actions like sending messages directly from Spotlight.
Apple Intelligence features are now integrated into macOS 26, including a more personalized Siri and a more innovative Shortcuts app. Third-party developers can also leverage these intelligent features to create more complex and customized user experiences. Customization remains a core focus of macOS 26.
Users can adjust the control center, folder icons, and personalize themes and emojis across multiple areas, making the user experience more tailored and intuitive. The developer beta for macOS 26 is available now, with a public beta release scheduled for July. The full release is expected this fall, marking a new and exciting chapter in the evolution of Apple’s desktop operating system.
