Apple is expected to upgrade its Artificial Intelligence (AI) cloud computers with the M4 chip starting next year. The company’s current AI cloud architecture uses the M2 Ultra chip, with some modules still relying on the M1 chip for less demanding tasks. Reports indicate that Apple is negotiating with Foxconn to build new AI servers in Taiwan.

This move aims to take advantage of Taiwan’s engineering talent and substantial R&D resources, especially those working on Nvidia technologies, which Foxconn also supports. Apple’s Private Cloud Compute (PCC) modules play a crucial role in the company’s AI operations, handling tasks that local language models cannot process. PCC ensures data privacy and security through end-to-end encryption and custom Apple silicon.
