Cards Against Humanity has sued Elon Musk’s SpaceX for $15 million. The company says SpaceX trespassed on and damaged land it owns in Texas. The land is near Brownsville, far from the Cards Against Humanity headquarters in Chicago.
The game maker bought the land in 2017 as a stunt. It wanted to block then-President Donald Trump’s plan to build a border wall. No wall was ever built on the property.
SpaceX has operations nearby called Starbase. The lawsuit says SpaceX has used the land without permission for about six months. It claims SpaceX cleared plants, parked vehicles, stored gravel, and ran generators there.

“SpaceX’s abuse of this property has not only destroyed its natural condition but has also caused greater harm to Cards Against Humanity by damaging its relationship with its supporters,” the lawsuit states. Cards Against Humanity says 150,000 people each paid $15 toward buying the land.
If it wins the lawsuit, the company promises to give any money it gets to those original donors, up to $100 per person. The company says it complained to SpaceX about the alleged trespassing and damage. It claims SpaceX offered to buy the land “for less than half” its value and gave only 12 hours to accept the offer.
Cards Against Humanity rejected it. The lawsuit includes photos of the land. They show plants before SpaceX allegedly entered and construction equipment and materials afterward.
SpaceX and Musk did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Musk has been moving many of his businesses to Texas, including SpaceX, Tesla, and X (formerly Twitter).
