Nvidia and Cisco have announced an expanded partnership to provide AI technology solutions to enterprises. The collaboration aims to simplify the development and management of AI-ready data center networks by creating a unified architectural model that integrates Cisco Silicon One with Ethernet networking platforms. Cisco plans to create a cross-portfolio unified architecture to simplify AI-ready data center networks, incorporating Cisco Silicon One with Ethernet solutions.
Cisco will become the exclusive partner silicon included, integrating SuperNICs with Cisco’s operating system software to standardize networking technology in data centers. This unified architecture will allow for easier management of enterprise and cloud provider networks. “Together, we are partnering to remove barriers for customers and ensure they can optimize their infrastructure investments to unlock the power of AI,” said Chuck Robbins, Chair and CEO of Cisco.
With Cisco’s enterprise platforms and global reach, we can help companies worldwide build state-of-the-art infrastructure as they race to transform with AI,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA.
Partnership expands to enhance AI infrastructure
By making it easier to integrate and standardize on both Cisco technology, customers will benefit from the current and future advancements in the platform such as adaptive routing, telemetry, congestion control, and low latency, while leveraging Cisco’s broader networking, security, and digital resilience portfolio.
Cisco’s partnership will focus on simplifying deployment and operations, enhancing workload performance and visibility, and delivering top-tier Ethernet solutions for AI workloads. This collaboration will extend the architecture to include Cisco Silicon One, making Cisco the exclusive partner silicon supported in Ethernet solutions. The expanded collaboration will move enterprise data center Ethernet AI projects from prototypes to full-scale deployments, offering more choice and flexibility for organizations.
Cisco will develop data center switches based on Ethernet platforms and collaborate to create and validate solutions integrating Cisco Silicon One with Nexus, UCS Compute, Optics, and more. Cisco plans to update its Silicon switches to be compatible with reference architectures, available starting mid-2025. Further announcements regarding new Cisco Spectrum switches will follow.
