The Big Four accounting firms – Deloitte, EY, PwC, and KPMG — are racing to develop advanced AI platforms to work alongside employees and clients. These platforms focus on intelligent systems, or “agents,” that can complete tasks and make decisions without human intervention. Deloitte and EY recently announced the launch of their new AI platforms, built in collaboration with tech giant Nvidia.

Deloitte’s Zora AI offers clients digital workers capable of perceiving, reasoning, and acting autonomously. Initially, the platform will handle tasks such as expense management and sales trend analysis, with plans to expand into other areas. EY’s platform, EY.ai Agentic Platform, is available to 80,000 workers in the firm’s tax division.

It comprises 150 tax agents that assist with data collection, document analysis, and tax compliance. EY believes this AI will help surpass 3 million tax compliance cases and transform over 30 million tax processes within the next year.

Deloitte’s Zora AI transforms operations

The potential of agentic AI to liberate the workforce and transform business operations is significant. Deloitte’s US CEO, Jason Girzadas, predicts a 25% cost reduction for finance teams and a 40% increase in productivity. EY’s global managing partner for growth and innovation, Raj Sharma, asserted that agentic AI fundamentally transforms business operations.

The rise of AI agents is pushing firms to rethink their commercial models. EY might transition to a “service-as-a-software” approach where clients pay based on outcomes rather than hours and resources. KPMG is integrating AI agents as “innovative digital teammates” in customer service and reporting areas.

PwC is deploying agentic AI internally for data ingestion and customer communication frameworks, focusing on responsible and trustworthy AI. The Big Four firms are at the forefront of integrating AI agents to redefine businesses’ operations. By embracing these intelligent systems, they aim to improve efficiency and productivity and set a new standard for innovation across industries.
