The billionaire entrepreneur deployed resources from his companies, Tesla and SpaceX, to provide internet connectivity and power in the hardest-hit areas. Musk announced he would send a fleet of Tesla Cybertrucks equipped with Starlink satellite internet terminals to create a grid of free Wi-Fi hotspots across the Greater Los Angeles and Malibu regions.
Apologies to those expecting Cybertruck deliveries in California over the next few days.
We need to use those trucks as mobile base stations to provide power to Starlink Internet terminals in areas of LA without connectivity.
A new truck will be delivered end of week.

The Cybertrucks, initially slated for customer deliveries, have been repurposed as mobile base stations to power the Starlink terminals in areas where connectivity has been lost. Apologies to those expecting Cybertruck deliveries in California over the next few days,” Musk wrote on the social media platform X. We need to use those trucks as mobile base stations to provide power to Starlink Internet terminals in areas of LA without connectivity.
Putting out fires before they spread does not seem like a serious technological challenge in a world with @SpaceX, @xai and @anduriltech.
So @elonmusk and @PalmerLuckey, why don’t we start a company that uses satellites, AI, and drone technology to put out fires before they…

In addition to the Cybertrucks and Starlink terminals, Musk has also deployed Tesla Powerwall units and Megapack chargers to help alleviate power shortages caused by the wildfires and Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS).

Elon Musk aids Southern California fires
Two Megapack chargers have been sent to the region, and a third has been installed at the Altadena Sheriff’s Station to support first responders. Despite his efforts, Musk acknowledged that some Californians and press members might view his actions as grandstanding.
However, he remains committed to providing assistance, stating, “If this helps save even one house or maybe even someone’s life, we should still do it.”
The wildfires have claimed at least five lives and threatened thousands of homes across Southern California. The Eaton Fire, in particular, has caused significant damage in the Pasadena area. Footage shows homes engulfed in flames as powerful winds fuel the blaze. Musk’s initiatives demonstrate the potential for technology and innovation to play a crucial role in disaster response and recovery efforts.
Leveraging the resources of his companies, he aims to provide essential services and support to those affected by the wildfires during this crisis.
