Fenix Features

Garmin has released a new software update for its flagship smartwatches, including the Enduro 3, Fenix E, and Fenix 8. This update, Beta Version 11.84, is the third beta update for these devices and follows previous beta versions 11.81 and 11.82. Users enrolled in Garmin’s Beta Program can manually download the update by going to Menu > System > Software Update and selecting ‘Check for Updates’.

It’s important to note that all current beta builds disable the dive and ECG features on the supported devices. Beta Version 11.84 includes several bug fixes and improvements. These include improved visuals for disabled power controls, fixing water ejection when Do Not Disturb is enabled, correcting volume menu alignment, addressing issues with the nap timer not sounding, resolving inability to complete strength free workouts, fixing crashes in battery saver mode for various languages, correcting ClimbPro behavior during active navigation loops, and adjusting alarm volume when using buttons.

These updates aim to enhance the user experience and provide better functionality for Garmin’s flagship smartwatch series. Users can visit Garmin’s official forums or support pages for more details on the update. The Garmin Enduro 3, a new version of the popular sports watch, is now available for $200 less than its predecessor.

Enduro 3 features and improvements

The Enduro 3 is priced at $900 and comes in a single 51mm size with a memory-in-pixel (MIP) display and solar charging. Key features of the Enduro 3 include stunning battery life, accurate and comprehensive data capture, and an essential LED flashlight.

However, the MIP display is not as brilliant as an AMOLED display, and the 51mm size may be too large for smaller wrists. Compared to the Enduro 2, the Enduro 3 is lighter, offers longer battery life, has twice the solar energy harvesting capability, features the new Garmin Elevate fifth-generation heart rate sensor, includes new activity and mapping functions, and has a redesigned user interface. The Enduro 3 is a serious competitor to the Garmin Fenix 8, offering many of the same features at a lower price point.

It covers essential smartwatch features like offline music, contactless payments, and the new Garmin Messenger app, but lacks some advanced daily life management features found in other high-end smartwatches. GPS performance has been solid across modes, with slight variances in dense environments compared to the Fenix 8. Heart rate accuracy is generally reliable, though less consistent in handling rapid intensity changes.

Battery life remains a standout feature, offering between 60 and 210 hours of GPS tracking. Overall, the Garmin Enduro 3 is an excellent choice for ultra-runners and adventure enthusiasts who prioritize long battery life, robust physical features, and extensive fitness tracking without the need for advanced smartwatch capabilities.
