iOS 18 Update: Exciting but Potentially Annoying Changes

Exciting Changes
Exciting Changes

The latest iOS 18 update brings a host of new features and improvements to the iPhone. While many of these changes are exciting, some users may find a few of them frustrating or annoying. One of the most noticeable changes is the redesigned Photos app.

It now showcases collections of photos and videos, including recent gatherings and suggested wallpapers, all in one main view. Some users may find this cluttered and overwhelming. To simplify the interface, open the Photos app, swipe down to the bottom, and tap “Customize and Reorder.” From there, you can uncheck any collections you don’t want to appear in the main view and organize the remaining items to your liking.

Another potentially annoying feature is the redesigned Control Center, which now spans multiple pages. This can make it harder to quickly access the settings you need.

To simplify it back to a single page, swipe down from the top-right of your screen to open the Control Center, then swipe up to access additional pages. Press and hold on any blank part of the page, then tap the remove control button (-) at the top-left to delete each control and its associated page. Finally, the new Type to Siri feature, accessible by double-tapping at the bottom center of your iPhone, can be helpful but also easily triggered by accident.

To disable this while keeping Siri enabled, go to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > Talk & Type to Siri, and toggle off “Type to Siri.”

By making these adjustments, you can streamline your iOS 18 experience and focus on the features you find most useful. While the update may have some annoying aspects, it also brings many improvements and customization options to enhance your iPhone experience overall.
