Despite these concerns, President William Ruto has defended the decision to allow Starlink into the market, stating that the increased competition has encouraged existing players to improve their services.
Safaricom recently announced new internet speeds and a 1GB-per-second Platinum package priced at Ksh.20,000. As Starlink continues to expand its offerings in Kenya, it remains to be seen how the competition between the satellite internet provider and local companies will unfold. For now, the introduction of the more affordable Starlink Mini is a welcome development for Kenyans seeking reliable and high-speed internet access.
