NVIDIA has reportedly delayed the launch of its upcoming RTX 5060 series GPUs by a few weeks. Sources say board partners have been notified of the delay, which affects both the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 models. The GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is now rumored to launch in mid-April, while the GeForce RTX 5060 will be pushed to mid-May.

These delays come right before the expected release of the GeForce RTX 5070. There is speculation that the delay might be due to internal issues, though NVIDIA has not officially confirmed this. Reports suggest that NVIDIA has informed all its AIC partners about the new tentative release schedule via internal communications.

The company has yet to make a public statement regarding these delays. The RTX 5060 Ti reportedly will be available in both 8 GB and 16 GB variants. This mirrors the competition from AMD’s upcoming RX 9060 series, which is also expected to launch in the second quarter of this year.

AMD’s RX 9060 series will also feature 8 GB and 16 GB models, making them direct competitors to NVIDIA’s offerings. While the exact specifications and the final release dates have yet to be confirmed, the RTX 5060 is anticipated to replace the current RTX 4060.

The new model is expected to feature 3840 CUDA Cores and 8 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, with a TDP of 150W. If there is a delay, it could be due to NVIDIA’s need to ensure enough stock for a solid launch. The availability of NVIDIA’s Blackwell generation of GPUs has been notably thin thus far.

It’s also conceivable that NVIDIA wants to iron out any issues before the official release, especially given the lower price points for the RTX 5060 series, which could lead to high demand. The delay could put NVIDIA under considerable pressure. AMD seems to be gearing up with its RDNA 4 GPUs, and the launch of AMD’s RX 9060 models in Q2 2025 could intensify the competition.

NVIDIA must strategize carefully to maintain its market position.
