The incident between Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf and Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butaev at the PGL Wallachia Season 2 tournament has led to a penalty for SoNNeikO’s team, AVULUS. The altercation took place in the hotel lobby, with SoNNeikO allegedly threatening ATF with physical violence. According to ATF, the conflict stemmed from a pub game months ago where he called SoNNeikO “braindead.” SoNNeikO then sent threats on Twitter, warning ATF that he would punch him if they met in person at a LAN event.
When the two players encountered each other at PGL Wallachia, SoNNeikO confronted ATF, put his arm around him, and asked him to “step outside” for a further confrontation. Despite attempts by AVULUS’ coach and players to intervene, SoNNeikO continued to harass ATF. As a result of the incident, PGL issued a Level 3 Penalty against AVULUS for their entire series against Team Falcons.

This penalty reduces AVULUS’ bonus time during the draft by 110 seconds, placing them at a significant disadvantage. The Dota 2 community has reacted strongly to the incident, with many calling for stricter punishment.
Player Quinn expressed his opinion that AVULUS should be disqualified from the tournament, emphasizing that physical threats in real life are unacceptable and warrant severe consequences. Team Falcons released a statement demanding SoNNeikO’s removal from the tournament, and they are currently considering whether to continue participating in the event if no further action is taken. The incident has overshadowed the competitive play at PGL Wallachia Season 2, which features sixteen teams competing for a share of the million-dollar prize pool.
The tournament continues in Bucharest, Romania, with heightened security and scrutiny following the altercation.
