Google Updates Chrome with Extensions, APIs

The latest version of the Google Chrome browser for Windows offers several new tools for developers. For example, it includes a Web SQL Database API, a Web Storage API, WebSockets for sending data over a persistent bi-directional communication channel, and a notification API.

“We’re already working on making these new APIs more useful, and you should see a couple of improvements on the developer channel soon,” Ian Fette, Google Chrome product manager, wrote in a blog post.

The new release also includes a number of extensions which allows users easier access to a variety of services, features and alerts.
