How do the various app stores compare? Here’s what Distimo found:
- Android has the highest percentage of free apps (57 percent), followed by Palm (32 percent) and Apple (25 percent).
- Microsoft and RIM users pay about twice as much for apps as other platform users.
- The Apple has the largest app store by far, with nearly 160,000 apps (at the time of the study). Android comes in a distant second with about 20,000.
- The Apple store is also growing the fastest, with 13,865 new apps per month.
