Windows Phone 7 Will Not Run Windows Mobile Apps

In a blog post, Microsoft has confirmed rumors that Windows Phone 7 will not run apps written for previous versions of the Windows Mobile operating system. “To deliver what developers expect in the developer platform we have had to change how phone apps were written. One result of this is that previous Windows mobile applications will not run on Windows Phone 7 Series,” says the blog.

The changes Microsoft has made to the OS are designed to simplify the end user experience and standardize the hardware platform. Programming for the OS will now center around on Silverlight, .Net and the XNA framework.
